Hughes created a collection of daily paintings during the 2020 pandemic: tracks, plants, trees, stones, and larger sweeps of the Black Mountains edging into Wales were recorded. Further works developed from this dairy style practice were produced. Integrated with these works drawn from the land are abstract works made in parallel.
